There must have been an epidemic of young Scottish ladies eloping
with their fathers' coachmen in the 1800's! The Margaret McQuiliken
you mentioned is the third I have heard about. Sorry, the names do
not ring a bell. "My" Esther emigrated from Caithness in 1818 to Nova
Scotia. I have always been intrigued with the story, as much as we
knew about it, and I have been fortunate over the past year to have
found out more about her life after she left her parents' castle to
live in a log cabin in NS!
