Have you tried getting Willard Sinclair's death/marriage certificate or his obit? Checking the census (1870, 1880, 1900, 1910, 1920)?

Dear Cheryl:

I am a Sinclair also living near San Francisco. The Sinclair's
were represented at the Scottish Gathering and Games in Pleasanton (Alameda
Co. Fairgrounds) sponsored by The Caledonian Club of San Francisco over
Labor Day weekend. I believe that is the date each year.

I have had great difficulty in finding my connection to Scotland.
The family history has it that the Sinclair's I decended from arrived in
San Francisco during the gold rush. The main problem is that most of the
records for the bay area were destroyed during the '06 quake. The furthest
I can go is that my Grandfather was Willard Sinclair born somewhere in the
bay area around 1870. It seems both my father and grandfather waited until
later in life to have children. My father was Douglas Willard born in
Oakland in 1911. He had a brother Kenneth born around 1906.

Have you found a good source for tracing Sinclair's in this neck of
the woods?

Cheers,

Kathleen Sinclair Cannuli
