Dear Toni,

I am glad that you wrote of the settlers. My Great great great
Grandfather, William Sinclair came to New Zealand as a settler as early
as 1842. He worked hard as life was very limited back in those days. New
Zealand was only beginning for settlers back then and it was a very
rugged, wild place. He was also in Australia where he lost his wife to
illness brought about by the rugged conditions the settlers faced.
Broken hearted he returned to New Zealand with two daughters and a baby
son. He went on the become a very prominant and well liked man in New
Zealand. My nana was always telling stories of
of William and his sons she told of how Scotland provided him with the
skills needed to face life as an early settler.

Sincerely, Jenny Coster
New Zealand
