As far as I can tell I have no Scottish relatives (on the Sinclair side). We come from the English side of the Oswestry on the Welsh boarder. Most text suggest that the British Sinclairs originated from Normandy and spread out via Scotland. It's a nice idea but is it true? Has anyone seen documentation of English Sinclairs originating directly from Normandy? Obviously it would make my task easier if I didn't have to take a wild goose chase via Scotland when trying to trace our branch. regards andrew |
