Just a tenuous link here Margaret but worth researching.
 My paternal Grandad,William Sinclair,born about 1876,probably in 
Edinburgh,emigrated to NZ in 1925.He had a Brother Alex who went to USA 
(probably Texas) and a Brother John Sinclair,who emigrated to Australia.Here 
the minimal information gets vaguer still-John may have married a Trixie 
MacIntosh and may have settled in Hurstville (?NSW).Sorry-that's all Ive got .
