St. Clair, James in Virginia
Jean & other VA researchers:
While doing a net search, I found this following marriage record. Believe
this could be my James & Elizabeth (at least I think they're mine!).
Lawhorn, Phebe m. Archibald Gunno 13 SEP 1834, Giles Co. VA. Phebe is
stepdaughter of James St. Clair. He and Elizabeth his wife gave consent.
Witnesses: Samuel Hunt and Daniel Gol. Minister William Garreston.
Not only is this very intriguing, but also adds to the suspicion that I've
had that the Gunno family & St. Clair family were very close friends. Here
is support that they were in fact related. I'm pretty sure I have somewhere
that Archibold Gunno lived next door to James St. Clair in Wyoming Co. VA/WV
in the mid-18th century.
This gives me a time frame and also a new county to search in. I know that
they were in Logan Co. VA by 1840 but didn't know where they were before
that. I wonder how good Giles Co. VA birth records are? Any one know?
