One of the largest cities in Missouri in the late 1800s, St. Joseph is 
located in Buchanan County, across the Missouri River from Kansas. This 
database is a transcription of a city directory originally published in 1890. 
It provides the resident's name, occupation, and address. The page number 
refers to the original work and is provided to aid the researcher in 
obtaining additional information. Containing the names of nearly 20,800 
persons, this can be a helpful database of those persons seeking ancestors 
from western Missouri.

This directory can be used as a substitute for the missing 1890 Federal 
Census. Copies of a particular record may be obtained for a small fee by
