Tartan Day

Dear Sir or Madam,

      Does anyone know if Tartan Day is celebrated in England and Scotland?  
If so, on what day is it celebrated and for how many years has it been 
celebrated there?  A good friend of mine who is of Scottish ancestry would 
very much like to know.
