Solidarity with the USA

Yesterday the band of No7 Company Coldstream Guards struck up the first
chords of the American national anthem, the mood outside Buckingham Palace .
Never before has the US anthem been played during the changing of the guard.
It was followed by a set of sombre music.

The Queen, who ordered the anthem be played at the ceremony, will will
attend today's special
service to honour the dead at St Paul's Cathedral, during which, at 1100 hrs
today 3 minutes silence will be observed throughout Europe to honour the
dead.
