Major General Arthur St. Clair (1734-1818) was born at Thurso, Scotland and
died in Westmoreland Co., PA. His mother was Margaret Balfour St. Clair. He
married Phoebe Bayard, daughter of Belthazar Bayard and Mary Bowdoin. He
first served in the British Army and came to the Colonies under Amherst in
1759. After his marriage, they moved to Bedford, PA where he was employed as
a surveyor. He also served as an officer in the American Revolution. They
were the parents of six children. Their descendant lines are traced.

If Arthur was an ensign in the British Sixtieth Regiment of Foot, May 13,
1757, might there not be any records in the Soldiers' Documents? "Soldiers
documents : service documents of soldiers, containing particulars of age,
birthplace and trade or occupation on enlistment, a record of service,
including any decorations and the reason for discharge to pension,
l760-1872"
I suggest checking the following Soldier's Documents microfilm (under both
Sinclair & St. Clair):
v. 741 60th Rgmnt. of Foot: Saabo (Szabo)- Skeate 1760-1854 - LDS FHL
BRITISH Film 898138
v. 742 60th Rgmnt. of Foot: Skolsky-Tate 1760-1854 - LDS FHL BRITISH Film

The LDS (Mormon) has the 1880 U.S. Census Index on CD in their branch
libraries or you can buy it.
Have you also tried the records of the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American
Revolution) Library in Washington, D.C.
