The idea that it might have been the Shroud of Jacques de Molay was simply one of the crazier hypotheses floated by our good friends Knight and Lomas to try and explain the Shroud's origins in the light of the carbon dating which stated that the Shroud was medieval. It was an idea for which there was not one shred of evidence, direct or circumstantial. Recent studies by an American microbiologist, Dr. Garza-Valdes has proven that the shroud samples used in the carbon-dating were contaminated and that the subsequent results are highly questionable. On the balance of evidence available at the moment, it is highly likely that the Shroud is indeed contemporaneous with the time of Jesus and may even be his Shroud. The contamination exceeded 60% of the examined material. The leading scientist involved in the carbon dating has agreed publically that the results are now of dubious value. Therefore, those fantasists who rushed to provide improbable answers to the origins of the Shroud as a result of the carbon dating, have a considerable amount of egg on their faces. The truth, whatever that may eventually prove to be, may soon be revealed. When I first read The Second Messiah, Bob Lomas asked me what I thought of it. I replied that it was well written but I did'nt buy their thesis. He replied that he wasn't sure he did. Best wishes Tim |

The Knights Templar were disbanded in 1307. The shroud of Turin is in fact not the imprint of Christ but the imprint of Jacques De Molay, the last grandmaster of the Knights Templar. It was put on display 50 years after his death by the family of Jeffrey De Charney. The wounds suffered by De Molay are the same as those suffered by Christ.
"Carbon Dating has conclusively shown that the shroud of Turin dates from between 1260 - 1380..."
It's interesting that the carbon dating were released by the Roman Catholic Church on October 13th 1989. October 13th is the day on which [the members of the Templar order were arrested].

Re the shroud, suggest you read Ian Wilson's The Blood and the Shroud and more importantly, Garza-Valdes own book, The DNA of God which, despite its appalling title provides a compelling scientific argument for a re-assessment of the carbon dating. Early next spring, Element Books are to publish our latest work, Rex Deus: the True Mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau which lays out, in some detail, how the Templars held the Shroud for over a century before it passed into the hands ofd the de Charney family.
